Why Choose Tarifa Beaches

TARIFA BEACHES

Tarifa has miles of sandy beaches, all of which have their own unique character.

Los Lances

Tarifa Beaches 3

Los Lances is Tarifa’s main beach, 7kms of unspoilt white sandy beach stretching Northwards from the Isla de Las Palomas towards Valdevaqueros. The only buildings on the beach are a couple of chiringuitos (bars) – apart from that it is just sand and a lagoon bordered by dunes and ancient forest and framed by mountains. You will share your space with the local cows and horses that roam free around Tarifa and like-minded people looking to escape the package holiday hotpsots. It really doesn’t get any more chilled than this.
Los Lances is also the main kitesurfing area for Tarifa in the high season – find out more about when and where it’s safe to kitesurf here in our Tarifa Kite Spots section.

Punta Paloma

Tarifa Beaches 7

Punta Paloma lies north of Valdevaqueros and is a little more isolated, with fewer facilities but beautiful natural features. Here there is a large sand dune, and if you follow the beach round past the dune you will come to the bay and town of Bolonia.
Punta Paloma is another spot that is popular with kitesurfers in certain conditions – for more details see our Tarifa Kite Spots section.

Playa Chica

Tarifa Beaches 9

Playa Chica is the last beach on the Mediterranean before it meets the Atlantic, a tiny golden sand beach in sheltered cove next to the causeway of the Isla de Las Palomas. If the wind is blowing in from the Atlantic this beach is sheltered from the waves, making it ideal for families with children and a safe place to swim, SUP, dive or snorkel.
